My Favorite YouTube Channels So Far

As part of my comprehensible input strategy for Spanish, I have been watching a lot of YouTube videos in Spanish. I have had the best results with channels that are present over specific topics — it is easier to contextualize in this format.

Dreaming Spanish

An extremely well-developed channel for graded comprehensible input. The videos are categorized by difficulty, and they cover a wide range of topics. Videos have different hosts and different styles of presentation, so you can find something that suits your interests. Personal favorites include Agustina’s travel blogs and They also have a great podcast series that I have utilized on my commute.

Ter

Ter is a Youtuber from Spain who makes educational and lifestyle content. Her videos are high energy and have a distinct style of humor that I have really enjoyed. Many of her videos focus broadly on architecture and design, and are explained plainly and with enough context that I have been able to understand a lot of what she is saying. Some of her videos are relatively fast-paced, so I will often watch them with Spanish subtitles and/or rewatch segments of them.

Curiosamente

Curiosamente is an animated Mexican educational channel that covers a variety of topics, including science, philosophy, and history. The pacing and pronunciation for the videos is slower than most Spanish content, which makes it easier to follow along.

Los Ecomonos

Los Ecomonos is an animated channel from Spain about economics that explains economic concepts using gorillas with bananas in a jungle.

Quantum Fracture

Quantum Fracture is a science channel that explains physics concepts in an engaging and accessible way. The videos are well-produced and cover a wide range of topics, from quantum mechanics to astrophysics. The host has a clear and concise style of explanation that makes complex concepts easier to understand, despite the technical nature of the content.

En Pocas Palabras - Kurzgesagt

En Pocas Palabras is the Spanish version of the popular science channel Kurzgesagt. The videos cover a wide range of topics, from biology to philosophy, and are known for their high-quality animation and clear explanations. The Spanish versions of the videos are well-done and despite using more challenging vocabulary are paced well for intermediate learners.

Jexs

Jexs is a Guatemalan YouTuber who makes fun commentary videos and vlogs. His videos are fast-paced and have a lot of slang, so they can be challenging to follow, but they are also very entertaining and provide a good opportunity to learn more colloquial Spanish.

Alfredo Vozmediano

Alfredo Vozmediano is a Spanish chef who has a YouTube channel where he shares recipes and cooking tips. His videos are well-produced and cover a wide range of dishes, from traditional Spanish cuisine to international recipes. The videos are quicker-paced but demonstrative and provide a great opportunity to learn cooking-related vocabulary in Spanish.
